Aromatherapy

This is a brief generalisation and does not claim to represent the different styles, influence and nuance that each practitioner will bring to a session.

Aromatherapy is the 3500 year old art and science of using oils extracted from aromatic plants and herbs to enhance health, emotional well being and beauty. Aromatherapy works on three main levels: through the sense of smell, through absorption and through absorption via skin.

If you see an aromatherapist, it is most likely that you will receive an ‘aromatherapy massage’. Thus specific essential oils are blended with a base oil. These oils are used to gently massage over the skin, where they are absorbed into the blood stream.

Most essential oils have antibacterial properties; some are antiviral, anti-fungal and/or anti-inflammatory.

Essential oils also contain antioxidants which help to prevent cell damage and protect against the build up of toxic waste in skin cells, thereby helping reduce signs of ageing. Essential oils optimise cellular renewal processes and aid healing.

An aromatherapy massage may be a targetted treatment for a problem area, a partial or whole body massage.

Ayurvedic Therapies

This is a brief generalisation and does not claim to represent the different styles, influence and nuance that each practitioner will bring to a session.

Ayurveda has been India's main method of medicine, both preventative & curative, for over 5,000 years. Its principles are simple; like increases like, unlike decreases like. (Heat increases heat, cold decreases heat)

Ayurvedic consultation differs from others. The physiological, physical & psychological aspects of the individual are all assessed to ascertain the Ayurvedic constitution (dosha). Treatment is then planned accordingly. Great emphasis is placed on the use of oils. Massage such as Abhyanga and Pinda Sweda are given. Lifestyle habits are reviewed. The aim is always to learn what creates imbalance and discomfort in the individual and then re-establish balance, health and vitality. Consultations are insightful and constructive. Treatments are luxurious, nurturing and healing.

The beauty of Ayurveda is that all treatments and advice are carefully considered to reflect your personal needs. An initial Ayurvedic consultation is required to progress onto a specific treatment for you.

Counselling

This is a brief generalisation and does not claim to represent the different styles, influence and nuance that each practitioner will bring to a session.

There are many streams of counselling. Generally it is a talking therapy which allows people to speak about their difficulties and issues in a safe and confidential space with a qualified practitioner. This enables the mind to move past the issue(s) and bring about effective change. The emotional and physical well being are often greatly improved.

If you are considering counselling take your time to read through the specialities of each counsellor you are drawn to. It is common practice to phone counsellors for a no obligation, brief chat first to ascertain if they can meet your needs. This is a really nice way to get a feel for the person in the picture.

Counselling may be the tool you need to explore, learn and ultimately make positive changes to your life.

Deep Tissue Massage

This is a brief generalisation and does not claim to represent the different styles, influence and nuance that each practitioner will bring to a session.

Deep tissue massage is a medical massage for a specific problem. It is aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Most people go for this type if they have an injury or deep muscle problem.

Deep tissue massages use the same techniques as Swedish massages, with oil, but with a lot more pressure to reach right down to the connective tissue. It will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or "knots" (also known as "adhesions").

You should always feel free to speak up if the pressure is too much for you. If the pressure is more than you can comfortably take, you might unconsciously tense up, guarding your body from pain. This makes it harder for the therapist to achieve results. Speak to your therapist to ascertain a depth of pressure that works for you. This treatment though intense can be very effective in a short space of time.

Holistic Body Massage

This is a brief generalisation and does not claim to represent the different styles, influence and nuance that each practitioner will bring to a session.

Holistic Body Massage is performed by a therapist who will be multi-skilled with different bodywork treatments. Working from a base of oil massage the therapist will use a more intuitive approach to the session. A good therapist will be able to feel on which level an imbalance exists and use energy and technique to rebalance.

A good example is a therapist who would use Aromatherapy oils to massage with Shiatsu, Swedish or Thai techniques, then allow Reiki healing to flow wherever it ‘switches on’. Crystal healing, sound therapy, guided meditations are all possible. These treatments are generally very nurturing, peaceful and have a restorative quality.

Indian Head Massage

This is a brief generalisation and does not claim to represent the different styles, influence and nuance that each practitioner will bring to a session.

Massage therapy based on the Ayurvedic tradition focuses on the head, neck and shoulders. It releases blocked energy, excellent for stress relief and promoting relaxation.

Through a variety of different techniques, the massage works to release any blocked negative energy in the body that may be manifesting itself as disease or injury in any one of the seven Chakras (energy centres) of the body.

Pressure is applied to certain points on the neck, shoulders and head that correspond to each Chakra (which is a similar approach to that of reflexology). This unblocks the Chakras, and allows a free flow of energy around the body, restoring the individual to optimum health and feelings of wellbeing.

Meditation

There are many methods of meditation. Some very active, some totally passive and everything in between.
We recommend trying a few until you discover 'the one' for you!

The basic premise is that whatever technique you use, eventually you are able to observe the mind and body settle until they evenutually drop into a balanced state of awareness in which no one aspect of the self dominates.

Once in this peaceful state, the bodies natural healing mechanisms are activated. Stress simply ceases. Emotions dissipate. The body gradually, sometimes quickly, heals. Energy levels increase. Coping mechanisms improve. Overall balance is easier to maintain. the list of benefits are endless.

It is said that to maintain wellbeing we should meditate for 20 minutes a day. Busy people - 1 hour!!!!

View Naturopathic Nutrition
Naturopathic Nutrition

This is a brief generalisation and does not claim to represent the different styles, influence and nuance that each practitioner will bring to a session.

The concept of naturopathic nutrition lies in recognising that every-body is different in its response to the foods we ingest and the drinks we consumed. That our unique interaction with our environment, be it where we work, live and right down to the products we apply to the body and use in the home, affect and alter our well being.

The emphasis is on a return to wholesome food with a nutritional content. This allows the body to re-establish its pain/symtom free balance, along with regaining energy in each day, enjoying better sleep, simply not noticing your digestive process, just enjoying healthful food.

Food in its natural state has everything the body needs to heal. Whilst supplements are useful, the need for them merely indicates that the diet is insufficient in the first place.

Finding the balance in daily life for wholesome food, exercising and consciously relaxing the body and mind become the basis of a happier and healthier you.

During the initial consultation we take an in-depth look at your current health concerns, what type of foods and drinks you typically consume, when and how you eat. We then look at all areas, what is good and what can be improved in your current choices.
Then we discuss ways to help implement changes that will be for keeps, small changes, with results.
This is an assisted journey to establish long term benefits.

These sessions focus solely on other lifetimes in which events that happened then, still effect this lifetime.
Once consciously realised what the root cause of a particular issue in this lifetime is, the energetic patterns and imprints are cleared.
This brings about attracting different and new dynamics into the present.

Often times it is just the experience of going into other lifetimes that is requested. This is still therapeutic and highly beneficial as it gives one the experience and the knowing that we are much more than just our physical bodies. This in itself is both empowering and enlightening to the individual.

Shamanic Journey is an ancient technique of travelling to a place within, in order to gain connection with, and experience and information from, ones higher self and one’s Spirit Guide helpers.

Working with a consistent rhythm of drum beat, voice and imagery, sound, and a space made sacred with ceremony, the individual is guided to a place within themselves that is out of everyday consciousness.

In this altered state of awareness the individual journeys with the intention he or she has set at the beginning of the journey. For example if the intention was to connect with their personal place of power, or meet with a spirit guide, or receive information , this is where the journey will take them.

Yoga

The word “yoga” is derived from the Sanskrit word ”yuj,” which means ”to unify” or ”to yoke.”
This origin of the word ”yoga” and the practice of yoga are closely related, since practicing yoga involves seeking to ”unite” your body, mind and spirit. Achieving this union allows you to connect with your inner self, leading to a sense of contentment and tranquility.

New to yoga? The initial practise is listening. Both to external instruction and internal feedback. I encourage all students to leave the competitve spirit outside. We all have different body history's. Unique.

The initial practise is to reach optimal stretch without strain. Here you find the experience of release of stored tension. Next is to synchromise the movement with the breath. Harmonise. Here your practise deepens. All levels of the being  begin to purifiy.

The body decompresses, the mind and emotions calm. You experience relief, inner quiet, space. Peace.

Here connection with your individual experience of source becomes possible.
