I have been a therapeutic counsellor for many years, in a variety of settings. My work in the NHS included seeing people through the Talking Therapies scheme via their GPs, and 8 years as an Oncology Counsellor in a London hospital. That really gave me insight into what it means to live with serious illness, and the emotional roller-coaster that can go with it. During my time in a college I also supported both students and staff. It has been important to me understand the unique difficulties that people are facing, as well as holding the knowledge that they are often sharing experiences that are common to people who go through similar situations.
I have often been described as being 'a safe pair of hands' by people, and this has been deepened by my mindfulness and meditation practice. I now love to share these through teaching others.

Are you facing challenging times right now and looking for an experienced counsellor to support you? If so, you have come to the right place. It gives me real pleasure to see people move out of the dark places in their lives, often into a place that feels authentic and full of new potential.

I have been an accredited counsellor with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) for the past 15 years, and abide by their Code of Ethics. For ten of those years I have also been a qualified supervisor, and following my passion for meditation and its benefits also moved into teaching Mindfulness.

There are many reasons that you may be considering counselling, from facing particular past or current events or relationship difficulties, to a general sense that there must be more to life. I have worked with a wide range of people and their challenges, as well as having particular expertise around life limiting illness (such as cancer), work related stress, and managing life changes.

I like to tailor my approach depending on what suits the person before me (known as an Integrative approach), and this can include:

- Talking - Mindfulness techniques - Diaries - Creative media - Written exercises -

If you would like to take the next step, please feel free to contact me to arrange either a free 15 minute telephone call or an initial paid 50 minute interview. This would be an opportunity for you to see how you get on with me, and for us to see whether I am the best person to be supporting you.

Mindfulness Evenings

2hr £5.00

I run a monthly mindfulness evening, on the third Wednesday of each month (excluding August & December).
Future dates: 18th Oct, and 15th Nov.
Times: 6 - 7.45pm (Arrival 6pm for 6.15 start)
Cost per session: 5

This is a space to experience and share mindfulness practice, and the wonderful benefits it has to offer. You are welcome whether you are beginner, have lost touch with your practice or are a more experienced practitioner. Most people find that meditating in a group offers a richer experience than on your own.
Between 6-6.15pm we have an opportunity to meet each other before moving into the body of the evening. There will be time to learn or revisit practices, and share any mindful moments and effects from the previous month.

Mindfulness - 8 Week Course

Early Bird price available.

Mindfulness involves cultivating practices that help us to connect gently and intentionally with the present moment, the only moment in which life actually happens! Its benefits are many, but include experiencing more moments of calm and exploring alternative ways of handling the inevitable difficulties in our lives.

Mindfulness training courses are designed to cultivate awareness of our current states of mind and body, in a compassionate way. Through that awareness we are able to make better choices for ourselves, and frequently feel less stressed and more alive. It can enhance our relationship with both ourselves and those around us, and has been proven to help people with anxiety and depression.

Each course includes:
- 8 weekly classes
- Regular home practice
- Course materials

Follow up meetings are often arranged by agreement.
